World's Fair held in St. Louis
to commemorate the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase, and the prize goes to M.W. Nolden for his e-mail submission which (heavily edited) in part reads:
"I was drunk last night, dear Mother.
I was drunk the night before..."
Tootie (Margaret O'Brien) in Meet Me In St. Louis [1944, Vincente Minnelli directing]
"...If I could have gotten out the door five minutes sooner I would have been spared the sound of ___ shouting things at ___ which he will regret tomorrow... I hope there is great make-up sex... Let me know if Joe gets back to you. It's Gay Weekend in NYC, so it probably won't happen until next week. And P.S. I am aware that the plot pivot of MMISL is the Louisiana Purchase Centennial Exposition which took place in 1904."
-- Alas, Vincente Minnelli was born in '03 (close but no cigar); otherwise Mark would have been eligible for double points, along with proving that life in NJ is wild beyond our imagining.
So friends, life may not be a contest but nothing's sacred, not even your e-mails, and Mark's ahead. Get to work, people. Justin is in Paris, Sophia is headed this way next week.
Had a lovely lunch with C yesterday at Vivoli. He is interested in our plans for a Salon. He is also much taller in person, and devastatingly handsome. More on that later.
The first Gay Pride I attended in New York we marched up Fifth from the Village to Central Park, where we listened to political speakers and activists, Angela Davis and Jerry Rubin, and lay in the grass and got very high. I was nine or ten years old. I believe things have changed since then.
Most of this is true.

Thank you, Thank you. I first want to thank the Academy....What? Wait! Why are the playing that music. Dammit ~ I haven't even thanked my massage therapist yet! In fact, you could have left the bit in about me cutting my own hair while furiously tripping on LSD. There is, sadly, no such thing as bad publicity and it was 40 years ago. Sophia MUST post more often. Coax her.

G,
Up comes your blog the day that I was missing you and planning to call you. I'm pumped about this, and I agree this is instant George! One of the first things to do was to make you a bookmark, and, when I went to change "1904" to "GEORGE SNYDER" for the bookmark title, I decided to take a big risk and stick with the search engine-prescribed-all numbers "1904" figuring it would end up at the top or bottom of my ton of bookmarks and be easier to locate. Voila, it ended up at the bottom so you are even more instant!
Hugs,
JR
P.S. Regarding the "subject to moderation" notification, if part of the editorial license is yours, you have my permission to cut, paste, intrude, scrap, . . . . Part of the play that this is!!?? N'est-ce pas?
P.S.S. Just figured the subscribing feature -> even greater instantaneity!
You are very kind. Plus, thanks for posting because Mark was getting nervous. He thinks Sophia should post more, but she is MIA at the moment, so how great you came on. Hope you and your George are well, and loving you to pieces,
PS I approve all comments, except the really scary ones.
Like others, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. Again they have not disappointed. Welcome to the party JR. The room is beginning to fill. George! Where the fuck are the cocktails?
