Griffith J. Griffith Shoots his Wife in Santa Monica


leaving her blind and disfigured because she turned her head.  They divorce.  He spends two years in San Quentin, then offers the city of Los Angeles $100,000 to go with some land for a park and observatory.  The City Fathers refuse what they consider a bribe, out of a "sense of public decency" but change their minds after he dies.

We live in challenging times.  There's an old expression about a gift horse.  I look out my window every day at a view of the Park Mr. Griffith eventually got the City to take.  What if they'd really turned down the offer?

Everything comes with a price. 

Blood gets spilled on all sorts of things, on all kinds of deals.
