Graham Greene (1904-1991)

"If you have abandoned one faith, do not abandon all faith.  There is always an alternative to the faith we lose.  Or is it the same faith, under another mask?"

We all have our masks to wear.

A suitably profound thought for a Sunday, don't you think?  Or a Monday morning, take your pick.  It's been that kind of weekend.  [Note to Self: is it "crosses to bear"? "We all have our ..." something.]

And a busy Sunday it was, with a Birthday Brunch at the Four Seasons hosted by the gracious and inimitable K and G, for a jolly group of friends -- perfectly lovely.  Larry Flint was in the other room -- G in fact went over and paid her respects, telling him how much she appreciated what he's doing, and Larry seemed flattered.  Of course the Republicans all want to take the high road now, but let's not forget, they started it, plenty of money got thrown around digging up dirt on Clinton, I say good for Larry if he can finance a little research into the lives of the hypocrites who claim privacy when it's one of their own, but are more than happy to legislate everyone else's behavior.

According to one of our party who struck up a conversation with a sweet young waiter, there was a princess with her bodyguard in the house, so to speak, except we couldn't quite figure out who or where, (still, royalty!), and another person who looked just like Cheryl Tiegs (but it wasn't) and another person who looked exactly like the kind of character Jennifer Jason Leigh loves to play ("Georgia") and then there came that inevitable L.A. moment when EVERYONE looked familiar, from the tabloids or TV at least.  It happens here; it's weird.

Then B and I dashed off to the Gay Erotic Expo at the Staples Center downtown which was certainly a change of pace!  Some instructive material for perusal and purchase, a colorful crowd, plus there's something about meeting and chatting casually with young people you've watched in the privacy of your home do things that would, personally speaking, exhaust or even lead to hospitalization, but ... well, you get the idea.  And in case my sister is reading this, hopefully you DON'T get the idea and let's move on, shall we --

-- Oh and that reminds me: a word of thanks to all of you who keep asking about DIDIER.  There's been such an unexpected outpouring of interest in him which I know has only to do with your real concern for his safety and well-being, and nothing to do with the fact that he might be unspeakably gorgeous and available and I found him first, sort of ... don't worry, I'll let you know the minute I hear anything.  Promise.

And let us not forget of course that we've lost poor Merv.  He's with his 'girlfriend' Eva now.

Now all of you behave.
