What really matters, continued
In 1904, the explorer Roald Amundsen discovers that the earth's north magnetic pole has moved. It has continued to move. [Source].

Lawsuits have been filed in federal court here against the builders of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) -- the world's biggest particle collider -- being completed at Europe's CERN laboratoy headquarters and due to begin operation later this year. [Source]. Although intended to answer the really big questions in physics, there is concern that the collider could, among other things, create "Runaway Black Holes" that would swallow the earth and destroy us all.
Some particle physicists are reasonably certain the LHC will (probably) do no such thing. Others, including one nuclear safety officer, argue that with over six billion lives at stake, we should be aiming for 100 percent certainty, just in case.
I am drawing your attention to this matter because, although there has been much discussion lately of "vile liberal bloggers," I have generally found that additional information, even if provocative -- and what could be more provocative than the possibility of the end of the world? -- can prove helpful in shifting one's perspective.
